About Ingrid Nomad

Ingrid Nomad, a great Belgian singer whose music bridges a gap between pop and jazz with pure emotion and a story to tell, she certainly knows how to reach a broad audience and brings in jazz notables with an outstanding acoustic band:
Sabin Todorov (Piano), Sal La Rocca (Double Bass) best known as sideman of  Vaya Con Dios and one of the best double bass players in Belgium, Stephan Pougin (Drums/percussion) and Lorenzo Di Maio (Guitar).
Ingrid Nomad was born in Ghent (Belgium). She studied ‘Applied Communications’ and began singing after overcoming stage fright by taking classes with Brad Chapman in Los Angeles (US). He has worked with Anita Baker, Annie Lennox, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones and others.
She studied classical piano at the School of arts in Ghent and graduated in 1995. The highlight was a performance at The Blue Note Jazz Club in New York.
A meeting with guitarist Vincent Den Haese formed Innocent : a mixture of jazz, soul, pop and rock influences. Signed with Universal Music Group they remixed their songs in London (UK). Their music led to performing for soldiers during the Bosnian/Kosovo war.
She went solo in 2016. released her debutalbum ‘We are One’ in October 2016. The album got considered for a nomination to Grammy Awards in 2018 New York. ‘We are One’ was picked up on social media platforms by International Jazz Day, led by Herbie Hancock and supported by Unesco in Havana.
Her new album “Let’s go Outside” (2019), under the label Indiblue Records,
mastered by Scott Hull (Masterdisk New York), best known for
his work with Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Herbie Hancock, Sting and more.

“The Train by Ingrid Nomad, is one of those songs that tend to grow on you. It’s quite a simple tune, but herein lies it’s strength. Brush percussion keeps piano, bass and guitar together nicely / Ingrid’s voice is quite compelling and she is a more than effective storyteller. You can’t beat
a good lyric, easy to listen to melody and backing that’s supportive and unobtrusive. JOHN HOLDEN

“Very pleasant vignette of someone’s daily life, crafted the way McCartney used to, presented in a jazzy-styled folk sound painting. I particularly like Ingrid’s breathy delivery, a little bit like Janis Ian, and a little bit like Karrin Allyson, but all her own.” favourite track: The Train
rating: 4/5
