Sal La Rocca never ceases to surprise us. After the hit album #Shifted the Sicilian-born double bass player returns with a new and profoundly different project. There is a quintet version of a brand new line-up with Maayan Smith on tenor sax and Noam Israeli on drums. Two Israeli musicians newly arrived in Brussels, whom Sal met during a jam, and whose ardor and energy quickly seduced. On the piano, it is the incomparable Igor Gehenot whose percussive sound tinged with Caribbean tones gives a warm and welcoming music. Phil Abraham, who collaborated on Sal’s latest album, enters the band with beautiful textures highlighting the compositions of Sal La Rocca. These sound groovy, resolutely optimistic. They make you think of the sea, the beach, make you want to dance, hug, laugh … It feels great at the time when these few words are written …

Sal La Rocca, one Belgium‘s finest bass players with an illustrious career behind (and ahead) of him, is surrounding himself with young talent for this new exciting quintet. All new material and adventurous group interplay is on the menu !

The Tournai Jazz Festival 2022 “10 YEARS” Magic at the 10th Tournai Jazz Festival! In 2020 and 2021, the Tournai Jazz Festival could not take place due to the pandemic. But, in 2022, he will make up for the lost pleasure. And, more than ever, put the small dishes in the big ones. Especially since this will be the 10th edition. Which will make magic since the next festival will be split: over ten days, from Friday April 29 to Sunday May 8, twice as much as originally planned. For a total of 100 events, including 50 concerts on site… The Esplanade de l’Europe will host three concert venues, for two previously on the Grand’place: we will always have a Magic Mirrors (we do not touch a venue that unanimous) but we will also have a 1200-seat Magic Circus and a Magic Square…(more)
