GENERATIONS
We’re kicking off our 25th jazz season with a unique concert. An octet featuring four young musicians and four established names who have graced our stage over the past 25 years. Only original works by the eight members will be performed, specially arranged for this unique concert during a short residency at CC de Meent. All of this under the wing of Peter Hertmans. And we can immediately unveil the new venue where we will now welcome jazz lovers: Club 77b, a great club venue.
Peter Hertmans settled in the area near our CC in 1999. He was soon asked if he would be a sponsor of the jazz concerts. Peter eagerly accepted his sponsorship, and from the very beginning of the jazz programming at CC de Meent, he also became the regular introductory act for those concerts. The collaboration with JazzLab also proved a great success, aiming for a mix of young, exciting musicians and more established names in the scene. The unique value of the jazz tradition has been perpetuated throughout the years. And Peter, he remained godfather. A passionate and very loyal group of consultative members united the vision of the musician and the audience. And now, 25 years later, we look back at everyone who has graced our stage and are amazed ourselves: literally the entire scene has been here. And this deserves to be celebrated with a certain pride and joy with a wonderful kickoff for another 25 years of Jazz @ de Meent. 25 years of jazz at CC de Meent.
This season, CC de Meent is celebrating no fewer than 25 years of jazz concerts in Beersel. On November 23, 2000, the Nathalie Lories Trio was the first in a long line. We are now approaching the milestone of 200 jazz concerts, featuring not only the greats from the Belgian and international jazz world, but also young, emerging talent. As a loyal partner of JazzLab, we are pleased to present what’s happening in Belgian jazz. Every season is different, yet always diverse and surprising. During this celebratory year, the jazz concerts will have a permanent home in Club 77b, the brand-new clubhouse at CC de Meent. With this, we’re ready for even more fantastic jazz evenings!
