Sal La Rocca (double bass, composition, arrangements), Steven Delannoye (s. & t. sax), Phil Abraham (trombone), Igor Gehenot (piano) & Umberto Odone (drums).

EN : Sal La Rocca, the Sicilian-born double bassist, returns with a profoundly different new project. This quintet features a brand-new lineup with Steven Delannoye on tenor sax and Umberto Odone on drums. Sal met these two musicians in Brussels during a jam session, and their passion and energy quickly won him over. On piano is the incomparable Igor Gehenot, whose percussive sound, tinged with Caribbean influences, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Phil Abraham, who collaborated on Sal’s last album, joins the band with beautiful textures that highlight Sal La Rocca’s compositions. These compositions are groovy and resolutely optimistic. They evoke the sea, the beach, and inspire you to dance, embrace, and laugh…

FR : Sal La Rocca, contrebassiste d’origine sicilienne revient avec un nouveau projet profondément différent. On y retrouve en version quintet, un tout nouveau line-up avec Steven Delannoye au sax ténor et Umberto Odone à la batterie. Deux musiciens que Sal a rencontré à Bruxelles durant une jam, et dont la fougue et l’énergie ont séduit rapidement. Au piano, c’est l’inégalable Igor Gehenot dont le son percussif teinté de sonorités caribéennes donne une musique chaude et avenante. Phil Abraham, qui a collaboré sur le dernier album de Sal, s’introduit dans le band avec de belles textures mettant en relief les compositions de Sal La Rocca. Ces dernières sonnent groovy, résolument optimistes. Elles font penser à la mer, à la plage, donnent envie de danser, de s’enlacer, de rire…

Dit kwintet heeft een gloednieuwe bezetting met Steven Delannoye op tenorsax en Umberto Odone op drums. Sal ontmoette deze twee muzikanten in Brussel tijdens een jamsessie en hun passie en energie overtuigden hem al snel. Op de piano speelt de onnavolgbare Igor Gehenot, wiens percussieve geluid, getint met Caribische invloeden, een warme en uitnodigende sfeer creëert. Phil Abraham, die meewerkte aan Sals laatste album, voegt zich bij de band met prachtige texturen die de composities van Sal La Rocca benadrukken. Deze composities zijn groovy en resoluut optimistisch. Ze roepen de zee en het strand op en inspireren je om te dansen, te omhelzen en te lachen…
