SLR 5 feat. Stéphane Belmondo

SLR 5 : Sal La Rocca never ceases to surprise us. After the hit album “Shifted”, the Sicilian-born double bass player returns with a new and profoundly different project. There is a quintet version of a brand new line-up with Maayan Smith on tenor sax and Noam Israeli on drums. Two Israeli musicians newly arrived in Brussels, whom Sal met during a jam, and whose ardor and energy quickly seduced. On the piano, it is the incomparable Igor Gehenot whose percussive sound tinged with Caribbean tones gives a warm and welcoming music. Phil Abraham, who collaborated on Sal’s latest album, enters the band with beautiful textures highlighting the compositions of Sal La Rocca. These sound groovy, resolutely optimistic. They make you think of the sea, the beach, make you want to dance, hug, laugh … It feels great at the time when these few words are written …

For this concert at Tournai Jazz, the trumpeter Stéphane Belmondo is invited and will sublimate this musical postcard.

SLR 5 : Sal La Rocca n’en finit plus de nous surprendre. Après un album très remarqué Shifted, le contrebassiste d’origine sicilienne revient avec un nouveau projet profondément différent. On le retrouve en version quintet, avec Mayaan Smith au sax ténor et Noam Israeli aux drums, deux musiciens israéliens rencontré à Bruxelles lors d’une soirée jam, et dont la fougue et l’énergie l’ont rapidement séduit. Au piano, c’est l’inégalable Igor Géhénot dont le son percussif teinté de sonorités caribéennes compose une musique chaude et avenante. Quant à Phil Abraham, qui a collaboré sur le dernier album de l’artiste, amène à cette formation de relief et de la texture aux compositions de Sal La Rocca. Le groovy de l’ensemble est résolument optimiste et voilà qui fait un bien fou !

Pour ce concert au Tournai Jazz, le trompettiste Stéphane Belmondo est invité et sublimera cette carte postale musicale.
