A sneak peek at bassist Sal La Rocca’s new band, SLR 5, and their upcoming release Joker with Maayan Smith (tenor sax), Phil Abraham (trombone), Igor Gehenot (piano) and Noam Israeli (drums).
Sal La Rocca, one Belgium‘s 🇧🇪 finest bass players with an illustrious career behind (and ahead) of him, is surrounding himself with young talent for this new exciting quintet. All new material and adventurous group interplay is on the menu !
Sal La Rocca is originally from Seraing, Belgium, near LIEGE. He was first a Rock guitarist, but switched to the bass as his instrument of choice after hearing (for the first time) music by several jazz greats. After switching, he taught himself how to play by the age of 23. Over time, he become one of the most “in demand” double bassists in Belgium and in the European theater. Starting in the mid 80’s, Sal has toured and performed with a wide array of musicians on the European continent. The 90’s saw him expanding his presence with world tours. His list of celebrity musicians he performed with continued to grow, adding well known names like Lee Konitz, Harold Land, Philip Catherine, Dani Klein feat. Vaya Con Dios and Toots Thielemans to his musical resume.

History
Bandsintown was founded in 2006 by Todd Cronin and Phil Sergi[3] and officially launched in 2007 as a concert discovery service. It was acquired by what is known today as Bandsintown Group in 2011.[4][5]
Brands
Bandsintown Concerts is a concert discovery app. It pulls data from a user’s iTunes library, Facebook Likes, Spotify, Rdio, Google Play and Twitter accounts to pre-populate a customized list of tracked artists and local concert recommendations. Tour dates are collected from more than 200 primary ticket providers and booking agencies, as well as the artists directly.[6] Bandsintown Manager is a collection of concert marketing applications for performers that allows them to list tour dates, promote events and facilitate direct contact with their fans.[7][8] Bandsintown Promoter offers promoters, venues and labels marketing data and direct access to concert-goers based on their music taste and location. The platform identifies the number of “Trackers,” or Bandsintown users following a specific artist in certain geographic locations, that can be contacted via Bandsintown’s email marketing program.[9]
Bandsintown Amplified is a multi-screen advertising platform that connects brands with fans and artists through a network of music publishers.[10]
